    Wow. Classy.

Believe it or not, that's what your dressed-up, retardly huge text made me think. I think it plays on us dumb folk's "big and shiny" desires.

I also like how all the upfront questions now are answered on the front page. Given that it's the page most people will ever see. That whole first impression bullshit you can never escape.

Also nice work on the subliminal message of "get free stuff", "it's easy", and "my cms can kick your cms' ass" - or something like that. Also enjoyed the pop-out extra info on roll-over.

That header does look like it's from a luxury car company's site. But I like it.

The only thing I don't get is the features button at the top. I think you meant to send it to an anchor tag for those who have trouble looking below the shiny text - unless that's just a page-in-progress, because it's not doing much besides changing the url.

I still don't get the push for using green, but it does make those "Try it free" buttons look like candy. Sweet delicious candy.

I think this might do well for Servee. Time will tell. You got this retard to think "Ooo pretty! I wanna touch!" so there's probably more out there that'll fall for it as well. However I paid up front for 2 yrs of hosting w/ GoDaddy and my tight-wad self is waiting to run it out, so it'll be a while before I switch since pricing is comparable to what I paid (given the addition of a cms).

Wow, thanks for the detailed reply; We're hoping it does well (obviously)

Some of the things about color and format are coming from hard data, stuff that doesn't make sense to me either (the 'whys' not the 'whats')

Using green just gets more conversions, more clicks. I've seen it in some of my other clients' work; and it was something that I couldn't ignore.

As for the 'button' idea in general, when you only have one button, it should stand out, as in 'this is the thing I want you to do'

For bloggers and such, the thing you want people to do is read your work, and post a comment, so those should be highlighted. For us, we want you to build your website with us, so that's what we point out.

    Kasey,

The first time I hit it I literally sat back in my chair - this is in a 1024x768 monitor, full screen. But then I thought "Wow, my website is bad - I deserve better" and scrolled down. Thing is, I don't have a website to begin with.

The Try it Free buttons are good strategy. Give users one option, let them know it doesn't cost anything, and draw them to it.

My only critique is, on this monitor resolution (which I assume is still pretty standard among average joe users), I feel a bit cramped and claustrophobic, especially when using the java rollovers, and half the pop up runs off the screen. (I have that issue with image galleries too).

However, you are marketing to designers, who (hopefully) are using computers with higher resolutions, wider screens, etc.

@Drew Thanks for the critique. The resolution problem is one that I considered a good bit for this project. I WANT the header to fill the screen, with the "easy to use" etc. subheads showing up on the bottom so the user knows there's something below the fold. That was all based on a firefox instance on a 13" laptop, so I thought we were all good... then just today I went to a client meeting and pulled it up in IE7 with a gazillion toolbars at the top. Literally, over 1/3 of the monitor was full of bookmarks and search engine bars. I can't win 'em all. After a couple of months, an analytics review might change my dimensions a bit.

At any rate, thanks for your help everybody!
